This series is inspired by the Trisolaris way of living in a three-star environment in the science fiction novel “The Three-Body Problem”. Trisolaris way of living reminds me of the way of living of the insect water bear. When facing extreme environments, they will become dehydrated and turn themselves into a dry flat organic fiber to survive extreme environments.
Through the investigation of water bears, I finally determined the final clothing silhouette by means of vacuuming and compressing and folding, so as to explore the way of human existence under special living environment conditions.

In the Trisolaran Centauri in the star system about 4.3 light years away from the earth, aliens living on this planet are called Trisolaris. There are three Suns in the sky of the Trisolaris planet, and they have irregular movements. Sometimes they are far away from the Trisolaris while sometimes the three suns are scorching creatures on the planet at very close distances. Trisolaris live in such a world that constantly switches between a quick freezing mode and a barbecue mode. In the inclement weather where extreme cold and extreme heat change rapidly, Trisolaris have evolved a dehydration skill to avoid disaster.
Here I investigated the highest and lowest temperature that humans can withstand without the help of any tools.
At present, the highest temperature humans can withstand (core temperature) is 60 degrees Celsius, and the lowest temperature (core temperature) that human body can withstand is 24 degrees Celsius.
Humans can live up to 45 days without eating anything.
Water bears range in size from 1mm to 1.5mm. Water bears are known for their ability to survive in various extreme environments. They can survive at minus 273 degrees Celsius and also can survive for long periods at above150 degrees Celsius. And they can survive in a vacuum, and be exposed to vacuum and solar radiation. Water bears can shrink to one-third of their original body size through syneresis under extreme conditions, and they can survive in dry conditions for 30 years without eating anything.
I extracted the details of the folds randomly generated during the dehydration of the water bears through the feature that the telescopic ball can expand and contract itself freely.
I conducted in-depth research on the malleability of human skin, and developed my clothing silhouette by simulating the range of local contraction and expansion of human skin with inflatable dolls based on the research.
I use inflatable dolls to locally deflate and compress to simulate the shape of human syneresis to develop the silhouette of the garment.
The fabric transformation is inspired by the dry texture of oil painting. In my opinion, the dehydrated water bears resemble the texture of a dry and cracked oil painting.
So I want to try to use some painting media to imitate the feeling of dryness on the fabric.
